VIEWS ON HIGHER EDUCATION
I definitely think the higher education system is a must in all society that has contributed a significant amount to everyone who had the opportunity of being involved. Even though the system is a long and repetitive one, it has helped to shape the way we have developed over the past centuries. We have accomplished so much and will continue to from small firms to large complex companies as a result of what we’ve established for ourselves through the education system far beyond what anyone thought possible.
With that said, Ronald Barnett expressed his concern on the Higher Education System that it may not be as effective as we think. He expressed that it is usually taken for granted by students. It is not meant to be an easy experience for students or a cosy one in which all the library hours the times you spend studying or preparing for various things pertaining to school doesn’t matter unless you find yourself and realize that no matter how much you do these things, there are no final results. Things that were done in one way can be done or seen in a different way that may be easier for everyone.
Barnett stated that education is generally taken for granted and that it is not a cosy experience, but he also said no matter the amount of studying you do it doesn’t matter until you realize there will be no final answers, which relates to Martha’s education for profit as she states we have to take a wide range of subjects in college even if we wanted to focus on one major which supports Barnett’s idea that education may not be a cosy journey to the extent of studying all the different subjects you won’t even need which will require you to do extensive library research that Ronald said we will have to realize there will be no final answers.
I don’t take my learning experience for granted as I’ve been in a place before where it was really hard to obtain a good education so I tried to gain as much as I could by studying every day. I truly believe as a part of our education system it is a good thing to continue the tradition and do library research because it has helped me in many different circumstances such as preparing me for the future world that’s out there. Not only that, it also helps in challenging the mind to become competent and thoughtfully critical in a complex world as Martha Nussbaum.
Most of my life I’ve been studying stuff I need to know and following the cultural tradition but also trying prepare myself for the outside world. I’ve always wondered why we need to know all these stuff in school that doesn’t seem necessary for the career path that we want to go in the future or sometimes does not have anything with what we want to do or even to the point where I wonder why I even go to school. Through all this I’ve realized that it is all a stepping stone and everything takes time as it will help to prepare us for what to come in the future.
In conclusion, I agree with Martha Nussbaum because she has expressed things that are true in my life because indeed everything that I’ve done has helped in my education path and I’ve been sticking with the educational tradition. I’ll end by saying I don’t think no matter how much effort you put in there are no final results because there will always be a final result for everything no matter what it is.
