Hallward Ted talk has been so inspiring in many ways. She has expressed herself in so many different ways and on so many levels no one been able to or even if they have not been as successful as her. Hallward really stood out to me when she made her point about not having that experience in her family where they wouldn’t talk about puberty. This kind of environment made it awkward because you are going through all these different things such as mixed emotions and no matter how much you try to make it obvious how much you want to talk about it or how much you’re willing to take the time to be weird as your family would consider it. Nonetheless, they would just treat it like a topic to be kept secret or swept under the rug. Her experience is similar to others that I have seen and they also stand out ot me. Many movies were exactly like what she explained where people would consider trying to end their relative lives rather than prolong it in a devastating and painful cycle. I can relate to this because I was once in that situation where my family had to decide weather to continue our relative life. In the end they didn’t decide but there’s this conspiracy that someone secretly signed documents with a doctor to give consent to end her life and say she passed away naturally. Just hearing her say that in her ted talk just brought back that memory and I know from personal experience what she went through and how hard of a decision it was to make. Hallward suggested “ Shame is at the heart of depression” which is totally true because in shame is guilt for the wrong you have done and this can come back to haunt you.
